Downers Grove Kicks off Holiday Season with Tree Lighting
Refreshments will be served inside the station from 4 to 5 p.m. The Downers Grove Choral Society and scout troops will lead the crowd in songs of the season.

The annual tree lighting ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, at the Main Street Train Station in Downers Grove.
Join Mayor Martin Tully in the countdown to turn on the tree lights. More than 1,000 handmade ornaments by local youth adorn the tree.
Refreshments will be served inside the station from 4 to 5 p.m. The Downers Grove Choral Society and scout troops will lead the crowd in songs of the season.

• Gingerbread Festival: The festival starts Friday and runs through Sunday in downtown Downers Grove. Events include Gingerbread House contest voting, Gingerbread Man hunt, storytime at Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtis St., visits with Santa Claus at the Gingerbread House, and more.• Used Cooking Oil Collection: Downers Grove will accept used cooking oil from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 30, at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave. Bring the liquid in its original container, milk jug or bucket.
