Downers Grove Officials Share Their New Year's Resolutions
Their goals range from personal to village-wide.
Every year, My Suburban Life asks Downers Grove village officials what their resolutions are for the new year. From improving education systems to spending more time with their dogs, this is what they said.
Commissioner Greg Hosé: "Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time out in the community and away from my family, and both experiences have reinforced what's truly important to me. Everyone wants and needs the same things – a nice place for their family, a sense of security and feeling that they're respected. I hope I can do something to help remind people that we can all be better neighbors and better friends to each other."
Public Library Executive Director Julie Milavec: "To work with the community, board and staff to create a shared vision for the future of the Downers Grove Public Library. And to walk my dog more – more time to listen to audiobooks!"

Community High School District 99 Superintendent Hank Thiele: “My goal is to deliver the best educational services possible to our high school students. In order to do that, my resolution in 2017 is to continue to meet as many people in our community as I can, and listen and learn from everyone their ideas and hopes for our future.”
Mayor Martin Tully: "My New Year's resolution is to creatively and prudently solve the Downers Grove Police Station and Village Hall facilities challenge in a way the community can support and be proud of for generations."

Commissioner William Waldack: "Personally – to simplify and reduce clutter. I’m too old to keep everything I managed to hold on to. Would anyone be interested in an IBM 360 Manual circa 1975 – may include punch cards. Village – to simplify and reduce clutter – with a view to improve efficiency and the quality of life for our residents."
Commissioner Nicole Walus: "My goals for 2017 include being more cognizant of my limits and to be mindful of what truly matters."
