E-Bike Rider Drove Close To Car, Smashed Mirrors In Downers Grove: Police
The driver told police the incident happened near 75th and Fairmount.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A driver told police their car mirrors were intentionally smashed by an e-bike rider who was riding too close to them as they drove near 75th and Fairmount. The incident took place just before 2 p.m. on Sept. 1, police records show.
According to the police report, the driver was stopped at a light on westbound 75th Street when an e-bike drove past their passenger's side and "intentionally slapped [their] mirror." The glass on the mirror shattered and the plastic housing on the mirror fell off, police say.
The driver told police they first saw the e-bike rider when they were on Claremont turning onto Fairview. Police say they reported the rider was "exceptionally close" to the back of their car, which prompted their to speed up.

They said they lost sight of the driver until reaching the stoplight at 75th and Fairmount. Police say the driver had did not speak with the e-bike rider prior to the incident.
The e-bike was described as "bright yellow in color with regular bike pedals" and the driver described as a white man in his 40s with a "larger build," curly brown hair and a beard.

The incident comes days after a separate report in which two e-bike riders fled Downers Grove cops after driving on parkways and sidewalks and riding on one wheel.
