Irish-Themed Brewpub Aims To Open On Curtiss Street In Downers Grove
The village's liquor commission recently approved the Irish pub and brewery's application for liquor licenses.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Blume & Ferris Public House is one step closer to opening its Irish brewery and pub on Curtiss Street in Downers Grove. In early June, the village's liquor commission unanimously approved the pub's application for liquor licenses that will permit them to serve beer and wine at 2201 Curtiss St.
According to village documents, the brewery will be helmed by brewer Alec Blume, who has worked as a head brewer for seven years. Co-founder Micheal Ferris is a native of Kilkenny, Ireland.
The pub's 4,200 square foot space will include a 1,200 square foot bar and dining area, along with a 500 square foot patio. Visitors to Blume & Ferris Public House will be able to order their food and drinks at the bar to be consumed in the pub or on the patio.

In addition to selling beer and wine for on-site consumption, Blume & Ferris may offer cans and kegs for purchase, village documents show.
According to the Blume & Ferris Public House Facebook page, the pub's offerings will include "handcrafted small plates and beverages." Blume & Ferris debuted Key Rua, a red ale, at Skeleton Key's Summer Skelebration in early August.
