Meth, Xanax Seized After Shoplifting Call In Downers Grove: Police
Police say two people were arrested at the Jewel on Ogden, one of whom had been on probation for meth possession.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — With the help of a K-9 from the Elmhurst Police Department, Downers Grove officers seized meth, Xanax and drug paraphernalia during a shoplifting call at Jewel in Downers Grove Monday night.
Police were called to the Jewel at 1148 Ogden Ave. around 8:40 p.m. for a report of shoplifting, Deputy Chief Jim McGreal told Patch. He said truffles, hair oil and eyelash extensions had been stolen from the store.
During a subsequent vehicle search for suspected narcotics, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and Xanax were located, McGreal said.

Jacqueline M. Valentine, 34, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, retail theft and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the incident, according to McGreal. He said Valentine had been on probation for prior methamphetamine possession charges at the time of her arrest.
John W. Lauer, 30, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Valentine and Lauer were subsequently released on their own recognizance, McGreal said.
