Metra BNSF Trains Operating At 'Restricted Speeds' After Semi Hits Bridge In Chicago

Metra BNSF trains were still operating at "restricted speeds" around 9 a.m Wednesday after a semi hit a bridge in Chicago, The crash caused lengthy delays to inbound and outbound trains. A train set to arrive at Union Station at 9:28 a.m. was running express from Aurora to Lisle.

The crash took place just before 6 a.m. near Kedzie and 21st street, Metra spokesperson Meg Thomas-Reile told Patch. She said train travel was halted to allow crews to inspect the bridge and rail tracks.

Thomas-Reile said the crash caused "numerous delays and cancellations" throughout the morning.
