Oktoberfest Celebrates 12 Years In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — There's a pleasant autumnal chill in the air, bringing the ideal atmosphere for Oktoberfest, which celebrates 12 years in Downers Grove this weekend. The two-day festival will take place between Forest Avenue and Main Street.

To embrace the traditional Oktoberfest theme, the fest offers authentic German food for purchase. The menu includes:

  • Bavarian pretzels
  • Bratwurst
  • Chicken schnitzel
  • Mushroom schnitzel
  • Potato pancakes
  • Apple strudel
  • German chocolate cake

Attendees 21 and over can opt for seasonal beers that include Oktoberfest brews from Sam Adams, Revolution Brewing, Paulaner and Warstiner.

The live music lineup features Gipsy Kings, Lounge Puppets, Tina Messmer King and more. A caricature artist, face painter, costumed superheroes, a traveling reptile show, a juggler and a dunk tank will bring some kid-oriented entertainment.

General admission tickets to Oktoberfest are $40 on Friday for adults and children and $15 on Saturday. V.I.P. tickets and two-day tickets are available.

All proceeds from the festival benefit Downers Grove Grade School District 58.
