Party Bus Driver Starts Without Everyone

A group of people was for a bus driver to take them into Chicago. When the bus didn’t arrive June 30, they called the bus company, whose staff went looking for the driver. Gregory L. Nixon, 51, of Evanston was found on the floor of the Masters Transportation bus he was scheduled to drive. Seeing he was in no shape to drive, police charged him with one count of driving under the influence. Nixon was released on bond to appear in court.

Excuse Me. What are You Doing in My Apartment?

A woman in the 4900 block of Saratoga around 1:40 p.m. June 28 to find a burglar inside. The woman walked in, saw the man leaving her master bedroom, and slowly backed out on to her patio and yelled at him to get out. The man came toward her and the two struggled over a backpack he was carrying. The woman was able to get control of the backpack, and the man fled. Cash totaling $1,500 was missing. The woman told police the intruder was a white male with a deep tan; 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall; with a pot belly and short salt-and-pepper hair.

Maybe I am Guilty After All

Former Geneva Street Superintendant Stephen LeMaire pleaded guilty to theft, a Class 1 felony, and agreed to repay the more than $28,000 he stole from the city using his for personal purchases.

LeMaire, 55, of Elburn, had pleaded not guilty last March, but changed that plea to guilty in court on June 29.

LeMaire was sentenced to two-and-a-half years' probation and 100 hours of community service for the guilty plea. He will also pay the City of Geneva $28,478.10 in restitution in payments of at least $200 every month until paid.

What are Bagels Doing in the Pool?

They weren’t doing the backstroke, but were seen in the pool at the LaGrange Field Club, 1300 W. 47^th St., between 9 p.m. June 30 and 7 a.m. July 1.

Don’t Fight Over Spilled Milk

Police were called at about 7:01 p.m. June 27 to a home on the 0-100 block of north Ashland Avenue to see about a mother and her son . An officer advised against fighting over spilled milk. At least they weren’t crying.

No, You Can’t Keep a Baby Squirrel as a Pet

La Grange police were called to 49^th Street and Seventh Avenue at about 3:58 p.m. June 29 on a report that some kids had found some baby squirrels. The officer told the youths and parents to keep away and the squirrels’ mom would take care of them.
