Patch has rounded up the best residential Halloween yard haunts submitted by readers in DuPage and Kane counties.

If you're looking for new zombie graveyards, body parts, floating ghosts and devil's playgrounds to explore for Halloween, you've come to the right place. Patch has assembled its annual scary yard tour for 2025, created by some of Chicagoland’s most imaginative and demented exterior decorators.
Given the scary yard tour’s past history of breaking the internet, we have organized the 2025 list by county. So click on the link for the list of scary yards near your house, or go crazy and visit them all.
GET ON THE LIST: We LOVE reader submissions, so we'll be updating the list every FRIDAY leading up to Halloween. So send in your pictures and tell us why your yard haunt is worth a drive-by to lorraine.swanson@patch.com.

DuPAGE COUNTY
Aurora
Biltmore Haunts, 2509 Biltmore Circle, Aurora – The Lever family offers a full walk through haunted house that is FREE. This castle-themed haunt features a fire breathing dragon, custom props, jump scares and a spooky atmosphere. Last year, the Levers were featured in WGN and introduced their haunted elevator, for which they charge $5. Open Oct 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31.

Mayhem on McCoy, 3102 Anton Circle, Aurora – There’s plenty of mayhem for everyone at the Bretzing family’s slick display, featuring a haunted cemetery with zombie babies, torture table, bloody butcher, guillotine, shackles, a 12-foot-tall Grim Reaper and much more. Lights are on from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Bretzings are also collecting new gloves, hats, socks and cash donations for our homeless veterans at Featherfist.

Downers Grove
The Haunted Cemetery, 2308 College Road, Downers Grove – The Duncan family’s whimsical haunted cemetery and adorable pumpkin patch are up and running. The spook witches are all out every night for a fun fright. There’s a pirate ship with tentacles that are reaching for the captain and first mate, with octopuses in the yard. The witches' lair has a place for broom parking and victims bubling in a cauldron. The cemetery has a funeral pyre that burns while the display is on. Lit 5 to 9 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Elburn
NEW! KAMME-O-CIRCUS, 1128 LIBERTY DRIVE, ELBURN — Kamme-O-Circus started 19 years ago with 6 tombstones, 2 strobe lights and a fog machine. Since then, Mike and Anne Kothe have continued to expand, and for the past six years have offered a full-blown haunted maze/house free of charge. The themes change yearly, but the core has always been around clowns and jesters. “We take the safety of those brave enough to venture into the maze serious and as a result we are permitted by the Village of Elburn, certified in crowd control, and approved by the fire marshal,” the Kothes say. This year the theme is an insane asylum. The yard haunt features strobes, lasers, fog machines, motion sensors, cameras, and a bunch of animatronics. On Halloween 1,000 people have been known to show up.

Elmhurst
Live Undead On Lexington, 15w671 Lexington St., Elmhurst – The dead resist their passage into the afterlife. Spirits rise from their crypts and skeletons crawl from the ground near bleeding headstones. Oh, and don’t forget the rotten pumpkin patch. Mike Konieczka’s haunt features static, pneumatic and animatronic props. Most props are either hand made or store bought and modified. The display is a family-friendly cemetery with only a few props that might scare young children. Lights are on 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Naperville
NEW! House of the Dead, 535 Delkir Court in Winding Creek (off of Modaf Road), Naperville – Leo McNamee, 79, has been doing his house of the dead for 38 years. Most of my props have been made by Leo. There color-changing lights, lasers, strobes, for machines and much more. Additionally, Leo and his gang of scaremeisters interact with the "tourists" with special effects and scares. “You have seen nothing like it,” Leo said. “We scare better.”

10S193 Alma Lane, Naperville – Nick and Kelli Kopke’s house features lots of large animatronics and other small ghoulish creatures. Find this scary yard in unincorporated Naperville, technically Will County, but separated by a mile from DuPage County.

The Skeleton’s Lair, 4016 Champion Road, Naperville – We always love yard haunts that come with a poem:
Bones in the graveyard where reapers stand guard,
They try to escape, but it’s too hard.
Groans and moans, no matter how loud they shout,
The skeletons are dying to get out.
Step carefully through, but beware the stare—
You're not alone in the Skeleton’s Lair.
Ashley Lopez’s den of skeletons is up and ready for visitors.

Gates of Hell on Edgerton, 1417 Edgerton Drive, Naperville – Lights on dusk till 9 p.m. weekdays, until 11 p.m. weekends.

NEW! The Jungs Monsters for A Cause, 1109 E. Bailey Rd, Naperville – Judy and Bob Jung have been delighting their neighbors with their annual Halloween yard display for many years. Their corner lot is filled with spooky, tall animated characters including the infamous IT, Buzzsaw, American Werewolf, zoomies, witches and ghosts. Walk around the haunted graveyard and see Swamp Thing, Pumpkin Man, Dark Angel, Annabelle, plus everything that goes bump in the night. Enjoy the many cobwebs with spiders including the giant one that looks down to all who pass by. It's a must see Halloween Spooktacular. On Halloween the Jung family and friends dress up in premium costumes and hand out full size candy bars and collect donations for Little Friends. Also, the home is on the Trolley Tour map. Check out the cool drone video.
Finch Family Funtime, 1507 Branford Lane, Naperville – The Finches’ giant 12-foot digital video screen will play funny holiday jib jabs and music videos, including “Thriller” by Michael Jackson and more.

Winfield
NEW! Silverwood Screams, 0N461 Silverwood Court, Winfield – There is plenty to scream about at Kevin Bastian’s Silverwood Screams. The family-friendly cemetery is set at the end of a dark and cursed cul-de-sac. He’s acquired even more ground-breaking zombies, skeletons running amok, a soaring witch and many other animatronics and spooky sights – all under the watchful eye of a 12-foot, pumpkin-headed demon. People are invited to park and walk along the sidewalk for the full animation experience. Full-size candy being passed out on Halloween. Check them out on Instagram, too.
