Police Release Identity of Downers Grove Man Struck, Killed by Freight Train

A man was killed late Sunday after being hit by a freight train that was passing through Downers Grove.

Police responded around 10 p.m. to the Main Street Station, where 55-year-old Michael Devaney was pronounced dead at the scene. The Downers Grove man was struck by the westbound locomotive, according to a community alert.

"The accident is classified as a death investigation and is still ongoing," it said.

The DuPage County Coroner was working early Monday to determine the cause of death.
