Teen Clocked At 140 MPH On I-94: Illinois State Police
State police say the 17-year-old was driving 75 mph over the posted speed limit and also failed to use a signal while changing lanes.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 17-year-old Waukegan boy was arrested after he was clocked speeding at 140 mph on I-94 near Libertyville, according to Illinois State Police District 15, which is headquartered in Downers Grove.
Police say the teen was driving a blue 2017 Dodge passenger vehicle near mile marker 14 on eastbound I-94 during the June 29 incident. The teen's speed was 75 mph above the posted speed limit of 65 mph in that zone, according to police.
He was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of aggravated speeding. Police also issued the teen a written warning for failing to use a signal while changing lanes.

Officials from Illinois State Police shared an image of the teen's traffic ticket on social media and cautioned drivers to "slow down." The photo was also captioned with the word, "unreal."
In an email to Patch, Trooper Omoayena V. Williams cautioned, "We urge motorists to please resist the temptation to speed and to slow down especially in work zones. We also encourage motorists to use their turn signal every time they intend to change lanes. As always, we remind all motorists to drive safe and drive responsibly."
