Third Radio Shack Robber Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison
A jury found Brandon Jones of Woodridge guilty of the 2013 robbery of a Downers Grove Radio Shack.

Downers Grove, IL - Brandon Jones, 22 of Woodridge, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the 2013 robbery of a Radio Shack in Downers Grove.
In January, a DuPage County jury found Jones guilty of armed robbery and armed violence, each a Class X felony, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney.
Jones is one of three men accused of robbing cell phones from a Radio Shack on Dec. 11, 2013. He must serve half of his sentence before he'll be eligible for parole.

Jones and Carlos Brown, 23 of Downers Grove, entered the Radio Shack around 10:45 a.m. at 75th Street and Lemont Road, while BL Jones, 21 of Chicago, waited in the car.
Brandon Jones pointed a loaded gun at the store clerk and made the clerk open a cage containing cell phones, the state's attorney's office reports, and they filled a bag with the phones. Jones and Brown left the store, got in the car with BL Jones and drove away.

Downers Grove police, with help from witnesses, found the car and chased it, eventually stopping the car on Route 59 near Ferry Road.
Brandon Jones and Brown ran from the car, while BL Jones stayed and was arrested, the state's attorney's office reports. Brandon Jones and Brown were arrested after a brief foot chase.
“This afternoon, Brandon Jones learned that he will be reunited with his co-defendants in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the next eighteen years,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin in a statement. “The brazen behavior displayed by these defendants during the course of the robbery and the ensuing chase as they attempted to flee placed the general public at great risk. All three men have certainly earned the sentences imposed by the court."
Berlin thanked the Downers Grove Police Department and other agencies involved in the case for their efforts.
Brown entered a guilty plea to armed robbery in August 2014 and was sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. In March, 2015, BL Jones entered a guilty plea to armed robbery in March 2015 and was sentenced to 8 years in prison, the state's attorney's office reports.
