Ultra Foods Presents American Cancer Society With $13K Check
People made donations in $1, $3 and $5 increments.

After working to raise the funds last October, Downers Grove grocery store Ultra Foods was able to present the American Cancer Society’s 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' with a $13,000 check Thursday.
Ultra Foods partnered with nonprofit making change to launch a campaign in October 2016 in which donation opportunities were available at all 11 Chicagoland Ultra Foods stores and at Strack and Van Til’s Riverfront Plaza location, according to a release.
Pink boards stocked with $1, $3 and $5 donation coupons were available at grocery store checkouts, and customers could choose a coupon for their cashier to scan. The donation was 100-percent tax deductible.

“We are grateful to the many customers that donated and showed support for those affected by breast cancer,” said Chris Bengtson, vice president of public relations and community affairs for Ultra Foods, in the release. “We are certain that the funds raised during the ‘Because Every Life Matters’ campaign will positively impact those battling the disease.”
