Evergreen Park Mom 'Does Everything She Can For Everyone Around Her'

EVERGREEN PARK, IL— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom is a teacher of nursing ... and a retired ICU nurse, but her care doesn’t stop there. She does everything she can for anyone around her. She takes care of her elderly father on a daily basis and does everything and anything for her children and grandchildren. My mom has endured many hardships throughout her life, and that has never stopped her from giving everything to everyone. From the loss of her 15-year-old son to the house fire 6 months later back in the late 90’s. She still found a way to get through and take care of myself and my other 7 siblings, giving us the best possible childhood she could. [She lost] her husband (my dad) in 2012. She still continues to show up everyday for her 9 grandchildren and do everything she can to make sure they have as much fun as possible and know they are always loved. She started as a candy striper as a teenager, and still continues to take care of people today. I really want my mom to know how loved and appreciated she is every day.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She is so selfless and does everything she can for everyone around her. She has let countless people in need come stay in our home throughout the years when they had no where else to go. [Fro] taking care of her elderly father everyday with all his medical needs to still going to work every day to teach the future nurses of this country, she never thinks twice about helping someone in need.
