Mayor's Wife Addresses Husband's Critics

A letter to the editor from Mayor Jim Sexton's wife, Karen.

First and foremost I would like to thank all the hundreds of people who sent prayers, cards, well wishes, flowers, etc. when Jim was sick and the thousands of people who supported Jim during this election.

The old saying goes what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and that is the case with Jim. I thank God every day that I don't live in the dark places that a few of these people that write into the Patch and other sites, this will be my one and only time I will write into the Patch.

Jim Sexton is a man who loves his wife, children and loves loves his grand children. He has made such a difference in Evergreen Park since he has been Mayor, he has changed the whole look of Evergreen Park.

He has brought tax dollars into the Village and actually brought them down since he has been Mayor and has a balanced budget. I know these days that is very rare.

Jim Sexton Loves Evergreen Park and unfortunately he was struck down by West Nile In July, but I will tell all you negative and nasty people he is 95 percent recovered and will be 110 percent within the next month. He might have lost 60 pounds but that is all he has lost, but he has never ever stopped working for the people of Evergreen Park and will continue to for the next four years.

Ninety percent of the people voted for Mayor Sexton to continue to run the Village, I would say that was a great out pouring that people wanted him to continue and he will do it as he has always respecting the people who live and work in Evergreen Park, you get respect when you give respect. I will say it again, thank God we don't live in the dark places that the few of you who write into these sites - go out and live and enjoy life - it could change in a moments notice.

-Karen Sexton, wife of Mayor Jim Sexton and so proud
