Outdoor Patio For New Restaurant Slated For Old Karson's Property?

A new restaurant and bar will soon be moving in to the old Karson's Restaurant space.

During Tuesday's village board meeting plans for the new restaurant were discussed including efforts to add an outdoor patio onto the property at 3422 W. 95th Street.

The new restaurant will be called Tavern in the Green and its owners are interested in adding an outdoor patio-style beer garden.

While the plans were approved for the patio, trustees and Mayor James Sexton made it contingent upon staff's approval of the final plans. Among the elements they were most concerned about where the types of barriers that would be used around the patio.

Trustee Mark Marzullo was concerned that the simple planters outlined in the submitted plans were not sufficient. Sexton agreed and said a fenced in area similar to Durbin's was now the precedent for businesses looking to add an outdoor beer garden.

The hours of operation would likely be from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Sexton said.
