Police Blotter: Caregiver Tries to Cash Stolen Check

FRIDAY, AUG. 3

Pot Possession

Arnold Jovel, 24, of Chicago, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia possession of cannabis, no proof of insurance and driving on a suspended license. He was stopped at 95th Street and Pulaski Road at 1:13 p.m. for expired registration, police said. A search of his vehicle found a pipe with burnt residue and .8 grams of marijuana, police said. 

Caregiver Tries to Steal Checks

Shantae White, 26, of Chicago, was charged with forgery and theft. White was employed as a caregiver for a resident of Evergreen Park. She stole checks from the woman and attempted to cash one of the checks for $300 at a local bank but was stopped because the signature on the check did not match with the bank's records, police said.

SATURDAY, AUG. 4

Pot Possession

Joseph Kinder, 23, of Evergreen Park, and Martell Hines, 19, of Chicago, were both charged with possession of cannabis. At 102nd Street and Kedzie the men were involved with what police believed was a possible drug transaction, police said. Hines had a baggie with 1.3 grams of cannabis and Kinder had three baggies totalling 3.7 grams, police said.  

Wal-Mart Retail Theft

Jamie Arellano, 18, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Arellano was in the electronic section of Wal-Mart and concealed items totalling $36.70 and exited the front of the store without paying, police said.
