EVERGREEN PARK, IL — An inbound Metra train struck a vehicle Thursday afternoon, no injuries have been reported, according to Michael Gillis, Director of Communications for Metra.
Rock Island line train number 430, scheduled to arrive at Chicago's LaSalle Street Station at 5:40 p.m. came to a halt near 103rd Street, around 5:20 p.m., Gillis said. The train was halted in place until about 5:50 p.m., while other trains operated down the Beverly branch, Gillis told Patch. The mainline branch is now functioning normally.
The director didn't know the type of car, and is not aware of what may have led to the collision.
