9-Year-Old Fatally Shot In Franklin Park; Thousands Raised For Funeral
The boy was shot in the chest from a moving vehicle while attending his grandmother's birthday party, according to police.
FRANKLIN PARK, IL — Donors have come together to give a 9-year-old boy who was fatally shot over the weekend a proper goodbye.
Ulysses Campos of Chicago was playing near an alley while attending his grandmother's birthday party Saturday in the 2800 block of Elder Lane in Franklin Park when several shots were fired from a moving vehicle, striking the boy in the chest, police said.
“He was 9 years old and full of excitement as he was getting ready to celebrate his 10th birthday in 2 short weeks,” his family said in a GoFundMe to pay for his funeral and plant a tree in his honor. “He was a kindhearted, loving kid, he loved playing video games with his cousins, he had a creative imagination, and was always full of excitement.”
