Seniors’ Senior Prom returned to Oak Park Arms
Senior citizens danced the night away at the 41st Seniors' Senior Prom on Friday. A highlight was the crowning of king and queen.

Senior citizens danced the night away at the 41st Seniors’ Senior Prom on Friday, June 16, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Avenue. The prom was an annual tradition for 40 years before being cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year marks the 41st prom and the first prom since 2019.
A highlight of the event was the crowning of the 2023 king and queen - Don Sundstrom and Marge Schwarz. Each year the king and queen are elected by the residents. A special dance took place featuring all the kings and queens, past and present.

“Prom is always a hit, and we love bringing people together for music and dancing in our historic ballroom,” Renee Steingard, director leasing and resident engagement at the Oak Park Arms. “Prom was a cherished part of our senior community here at the Arms and beyond in the Oak Park River Forest community. We’re so happy to have seniors on the dance floor at prom again.”
Live music was provided by Swing Set, an 18-piece orchestra that plays music from 1940s through the 1960s and selections from The Beatles, Steely Dan, and other contemporary groups.
