Earth: Our Shared Home Book Series

Earth: Our Shared Home Book Series

Join us to discuss a few thought-provoking titles about the interconnected relationship we have with our shared home, planet Earth. Our discussions will span the months of February, March, and April leading up to the globally recognized Earth Day on April 22. Join us for as many sessions as you’d like!

Our February title is The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer. As the author harvests serviceberries alongside the birds, she considers how the tree embodies the ethic of reciprocity that lies at the heart of the gift economy. The tree distributes its wealth--its abundance of sweet, juicy berries--to meet the needs of its natural community. How, Kimmerer asks, can we learn from Indigenous wisdom and the plant world to experience the harmony of our interconnectedness?

Series selections:

Print copies of each title are available at the Library's Circulation Desk one month in advance of each discussion. Serviceberry is also available as an eBook & eAudiobook through Libby digital platforms.
