Hlavacek Florist Looking for Permanent New Digs

Owner Maria Woltmann says she is looking for a permanent location for the shop, and promises it will be in Glenview.

While Hlavacek Florist is operating out of a temporary location at 1008 Church St., the Glenview establishment is searching for a permanent new home.

"We hope we can make an announcement in the new year, but we will not rush into making a quick decision," owner Maria Woltmann told Patch. "We want to make sure we find the right location."

Hlavacek Florist moved from its former location at 1444 Waukegan Rd. to the new space this September. Meanwhile, Woltmann is looking for a renovated, updated space as a permanent home.

"We are committed to Glenview and this is where Hlavacek Florist will remain," she said.

Hlavacek's original owner immigrated to the United States from Bohemia in the 1900s, and started a greenhouse just outside of Chicago. The Glenview location opened in the early 1970s, and Woltmann and her husband, Dan, purchased the business in 2000.
