A National Register of Historic Places estate in Lake VIlla that has been owned by the same family since the 1890s has been placed on the market for $1.7 million, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
The property at 25420 West Cedar Crest Lane includes two homes, according to the Coldwell Banker listing.
A stone house built in 1931 overlooks the northeast shore of Fox Lake on a bluff overlooking Columbia Bay. A separate five-bedroom, three-bathroom stucco home is also included on the property and includes a pool, tennis court, boathouse, greenhouse, lily pool and caretakers house.

The estate was listed with Coldwell Bankers on July 10 and it is the first time the property has been on the market.
“It’s an idyllic place and hard for us to part with, but the time has come,” Jill Hartman told Crain’s Chicago Business. Hartman is the great-granddaughter of John Byers Hal who began summering on the property in the mid-1890s, according to the article.
