LAKE COUNTY, IL — Parents of children as young as 6 months old can now book their child's COVID-19 vaccines at Walgreens locations across Lake County.
Last weekend, the Food and Drug Administration recently authorized Moderna and Pfizer shots for children between 6 months and 5 years old. Pharmacies and local healthcare providers began providing the first shots to young children earlier this week.
Several appointments are available starting on Saturday at the Grayslake Walgreens at 460 E. Washington Street for children under 5 years old as well as several nearby Walgreens pharmacies and can be booked now on the Walgreens website, app and by calling (800)-Walgreens.

"Earlier appointments will be made available at select locations based on vaccine delivery in the coming days," according to a statement on the Walgreens website.
The Pfizer application requires three doses of the vaccines while the Moderna application can be done in two shots, officials said. With the Pfizer vaccines, the first two shots would be given three weeks apart with the third coming eight weeks after the second shot.
