Breast Cancer Symposium Offers Treatment Insights

The annual Hot Topics in Breast Cancer Symposium will take place June 25 at Wellness House.

Hinsdale, IL — According to statistics from breastcancer.org, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

In 2016, an estimated 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 61,000 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. 

To support those who have been impacted, Wellness House is presenting Hot Topics in Breast Cancer Symposium 2016. This annual free symposium is for anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer or cares about someone who has.

This year's event will be held Saturday, June 25 at Wellness House and brings together many of the top medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and breast surgeons in the Chicagoland area to discuss the latest updates in the treatment of breast cancer. A special networking event, "Metastatic Breast Cancer Meet Up: You Are Not Alone" has been added on the evening of Friday, June 24 for individuals living with Stage IV breast cancer and their partners or caregivers.

The panelist for this presentation are leading experts from Rush University, AMITA Health, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, University of Chicago Medicine, DuPage Medical Group, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and DuPage Prosthetic & Orthotic Services. Each will share the latest research and information that was presented this past year at the annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Conference. The San Antonio conference provides state-of-the-art information on the experimental biology, etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of breast cancer and premalignant breast disease to an international audience of academic and private physicians and researchers.
