Clarendon Hills Mom Dies in Bicycle vs. Vehicle Crash

A local friend of the victim described her as a "beautiful woman with an electric smile."

HINSDALE, IL — A local bicyclist died this week after being hit by a car near Ravine Road and Oak Street in Hinsdale.

Pamela French, 55, of Clarendon Hills, was taken to Hinsdale Hospital early Monday morning and pronounced dead thereafter, police said. Emergency responders headed to the scene at 7:31 a.m. on Aug. 22 when "(French) and the motor vehicle collided in the intersection," according to a news release.

Additional details about the circumstances of the crash were not immediately available Wednesday. Department officials did note that the Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT) Crash Reconstruction Team was spearheading the ongoing investigation. The jurisdictional police task force comprises 16 law enforcement agencies in Cook and DuPage counties.

Clarendon Hills Village President Len Austin told the Chicago Tribune he has known French, her husband and their 11-year-old daughter, for several years.

"She was a really dedicated mother who was extremely in love with her daughter," he said, according to the article. "Our daughters played soccer together, and she was always very, very supportive. She was a beautiful woman with an electric smile."

French was the vice president for compensation and benefits at The Boeing Company, according to her LinkedIn profile. She was a graduate of DePaul University's school of business.
