Oak Community Church is offering parents the chance to drop their kids off for a couple of hours or a whole day on Dec. 4. More than 40 volunteers will be offering a variety of activities for the kids, including games, crafts, movies, stories, singing and cookie decorating.
"We just wanted to have an opportunity to serve the community during the busy holiday season," said Brandy Pardee, a volunteer at the church. "Whoever from wherever, it doesn't matter. We're making this available to everyone."
Most of the volunteers will be high schoolers from the church's junior and senior high youth groups. Lunch and snacks will be provided, and no pre-registration is required for the event that will take place at the church on Oak Street. The event is free and open to all children—from infants to fifth grade, although donations will be accepted.
