Hinsdale Central Among Top Illinois Schools: U.S. News & World Report
Central moved up in both the state and national rankings, pushing past New Trier.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale Central High School moved up in the rankings among high schools statewide and nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report's annual list.
In the rankings released Tuesday, Hinsdale Central rated ninth in Illinois and 302nd nationally. A year earlier, Hinsdale Central ranked 11th in the state and 350th in the country.
Nearly 24,000 public high schools were evaluated, and almost 18,000 were ranked.

Unlike a year ago, Central is now ahead of New Trier and Vernon Hills high schools in Illinois.
U.S. News and World Report reported that 64 percent of Central students took Advanced Placement tests, with 59 percent passing at least one. According to the statistics, 83 percent of Central students were rated as proficient in science, 76 percent in reading and 70 percent in math.

Hinsdale Central's student body is among the wealthiest in the country. Eight percent of students are from low-income families, compared to a statewide rate of nearly 50 percent, according to the Illinois Report Card.
