Hinsdale Institute Property Sold: Record
The reality show Duggar family belongs to the group that was long based in Hinsdale.

HINSDALE, IL – At least a part of the Institute in Basic Life Principles property in Hinsdale has been sold.
The property is at Ogden Avenue and Adams Street. For decades, it was the headquarters for a Christian organization that required women to wear long skirts.
The group is now based in Texas. The institute, whose followers included the Duggar reality show family, was the subject of "Shiny Happy People," a 2023 Amazon documentary.

In the document, the buyer was listed as "HIN OB DEV. LLC," likely standing for "Hinsdale Oak Brook Development."
The address for the organization was listed in space at an office complex in Bloomingdale, but it was unclear which business is housed there.
The listed phone number is for Hinsdale attorney Peter Burdi, who did not return a message for comment.
In the document, attorney Robert Barth is listed as the person who prepared it. According to the state's attorney database, Barth's address is the institute's, 707 W. Ogden Ave. He declined to comment Monday.
The village of Hinsdale has not indicated it has received any new development plan for the property.
In spring 2022, a developer withdrew a proposal for part of the institute's land in the face of neighbors' opposition.
Another developer presented a proposal for a different portion. That, too, received criticism.
