Hinsdale Man Tosses Hat Into D86 Ring
He is the fourth person to publicly announce his intention to run for the school board.

HINSDALE, IL – A Hinsdale resident said Monday that now is the time for someone with his experience to serve on the board for Hinsdale High School District 86.
Bobby Fischer, who has lived in Hinsdale for 25 years, announced his candidacy in the April 1 election on Facebook.
"With construction done, a great superintendent hired, and a 4-year teacher contract in place, now is the time for a strong business leader who knows our community and has experience managing people, operations, finance, and technology," Fischer said in the Facebook post.

Everyone, he said, remembers two or three teachers who made a big difference in their lives.
"We have those teachers in D86; simply put, I want to strengthen the environment in which they teach our community’s young people," Fischer said.

Fischer is a director of technology for a company. He and his wife have three children, all District 86 graduates.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and philosophy from the University of Chicago and an MBA in analytical finance, marketing and accounting from Northwestern University.
Fischer is a longtime religious education leader, a youth sports coach, an Illinois High School Association soccer referee, and a board member and treasurer for the Hinsdale Swim Club.
As a board member, Fischer said he would be "keenly informed of the details, but not micromanage; instead, I will delegate and then provide oversight. It is a complicated dance, but one that I have mastered."
He also said, "My Goal is Our Goal: Each present and future D86 student receives a world class education that is designed for them to realize their greatest potential."
Twice in late 2023, Fischer was among the applicants for school board vacancies.
On Monday, Fischer said he was running among the candidates for the four four-year seats in the April election.
Also planning to run for the four-year seats are Liz Mitha and Mary Satchwell. Incumbent Jeff Waters has announced his candidacy for the two-year seat.
The filing period for candidates starts Tuesday and lasts through next Monday.
