HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale Police Department was firm about its enforcement of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign during the week of Thanksgiving — a handful of days notorious for drinking and unsafe driving — and it's released its citation numbers.
From Nov. 14 to Nov. 28, a release from the Hinsdale police states, the Illinois Department of Transportation supported the enforcement and promotion of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over effort across the state. The crackdown yielded the following results:
- 1 citation for no valid driver's license
- 1 illegal use of cellphone while driving
- 1 uninsured driver
- 19 speeding tickets
- 4 other Illinois Vehicle Code violations
- 1 driver was stopped for speeding and arrested for 3 outstanding arrest warrants
The extra law enforcement was supported by a grant issued by IDOT's Division of Traffic Safety.
