Holidays Must Be Close: 'The Nutcracker' Comes to Hinsdale

Thanksgiving may be a week away, but the Hinsdale holiday season is in full swing this weekend. 

The Hinsdale Ballet Theatre under the direction of Jennifer Grapes will be staging The Nutcracker, everyone's holiday favorite, Saturday and Sunday at The Community House.

Saturday's performance will be preceded by a Nutcracker Benefit that will include cocktails, appetizers and a silent auction. Sunday's performance will take place after a Land of Sweets Nutcracker Tea, where "boys and girls of all ages will be treated like Sugarplum Fairies and Nutcracker Princes," a release from Hinsdale Ballet Theatre reads. 

The Saturday festivities begin at 7 p.m. Sunday's begin at 4 p.m.

Proceeds from the weekend go towards the Hinsdale Ballet Theatre and its future productions.

"Jennifer Grapes is the owner and director of Hinsdale Dance Academy and the artistic director of Hinsdale Ballet Theatre," the release reads. "HBT’s Nutcracker will showcase the talents of the Hinsdale Ballet Theatre company dancers and Hinsdale Dance Academy students."
