Kids in District 181 Save Soles

District 181 is hosting a shoe drive to collect shoes for needy children.

Families in District 181 are doing their part to help needy children around the world. They brought dozens of pairs of old shoes to Monroe School on Wednesday to donate them to the Share Your Soles Foundation.

"Around the world there are kids who can't get to school, because they don't have shoes to wear. This helps kids get an education," said Lisa Prisby, organizer for the event.

Share Your Soles is an organization that collects gently worn shoes to distribute to children who need them. The shoes are sanitized before being distributed.

Prisby said the District 181 committee collected 200 to 300 pairs of shoes to distribute last year. The shoe drive will continue until Friday.
