Attacker Fed 16-Year-Old Alcohol Before Sex Assault in Forest Preserve: County Sheriff

A Chicago man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage boy in a nearby Cook County forest preserve.

COOK COUNTY, IL – A 46-year-old man Chicago has been charged in connection with the reported sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy in the Cermak Woods Forest Preserve.

Armando Robles, of the 6400 block of Hamlin Avenue in Chicago's Lincolnwood neighborhood, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count each of criminal sexual assault by force and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a Thursday press release from the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

Cook County Forest Preserve authorities reportedly contacted county detectives on Monday, Sept. 5, after receiving a report about the alleged assault, which occurred the night before near the pool at the Cermak Woods. The preserve is located along Ogden Avenue in Lyons.

Detectives said Robles approached the boy sometime between 9 and 10:30 p.m. on Sunday and told him he was armed. He then, "forced him to drink alcohol and then sexually assaulted him," according to the release. The victim did not know his attacker, police said.

Robles’ bail was set at $500,000 during a Thursday hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse. He would need to post 10 percent of that value, or $50,000, in order to be released.
