HINSDALE, IL – A Hinsdale woman has been issued trespass warnings for 17 houses over the last month in her northwest Hinsdale neighborhood.

Police gave this number Wednesday in response to a Patch inquiry. Police say they have received 20 calls for service related to the woman.

Over the last month, the 60-year-old woman, who lives in the 800 block of West North Street, has entered houses through unlocked doors and asked for things such as food and wine as well as a place to charge her phone, police said. Her house is believed to be without power.

Nearly two weeks ago, Police Chief Brian King spoke with dozens of the woman's neighbors in a driveway, where he heard their concerns.

In an interview on Wednesday, King said the police department's social worker has been working on the issue in an attempt to find a resolution.

King, who joined the local police force to become the chief eight years ago, said it's unusual for someone in Hinsdale to be issued so many trespass warnings. But he said he has seen such situations earlier in his career.

One police report indicates the woman said she plans to move to Georgia in October. She faces several misdemeanor trespassing counts and a disorderly conduct count.
