How Many Hinsdale Homeowners Have Paid Off Their House?
Crain's Chicago Business reports 32.5 percent of Hinsdale homeowners are mortgage-free and own their homes outright.
Communities with a large segment of senior citizens or high median incomes tend to have the highest percentage mortgage-free homes, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
According to the Crain's analysis, of 4,486 Hinsdale homeowners, 32.5 percent are mortgage-free. In Clarendon Hills, 26.6 percent of the 2,459 owner-occupied homes are without a mortgage.
Both communities' numbers are higher than the Chicagoland average, which is nearly 26 percent.
