See Hinsdale Video Of Dangerous Train Stunt
A woman risked her life at a stopped Metra train in the village.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale is promoting rail safety with a video of a woman risking her life at a stopped train in the village's downtown.
It was taken shortly after 8 a.m. Sept. 8.
Carrying a purse and a bag, the woman ran toward the Metra train and then ducked under it while it was boarding passengers.

Police said that although no one was injured, it was dangerous behavior with potentially tragic consequences.
"This individual risked her life by attempting to cross under a stopped train," Hinsdale Police Chief Brian King said in a village news release. "Catching a train is not worth risking your life. Safety systems are in place to protect everyone at these crossings, and choosing to ignore them can have deadly consequences."

This is "See Tracks? Think Train Week," formerly known as "Rail Safety Week."
At Tuesday's Village Board meeting, Village President Greg Hart recognized the week with a proclamation.
The village is conducting a pedestrian safety study through its Safety Commission.
"In light of this recent incident, we are expanding the scope of our safety analysis to include pedestrian behaviors at rail crossings," Hart said in a statement. "Our goal is to identify actionable recommendations to improve safety and prevent tragedies. Rail safety is everyone's responsibility, and we will continue working to protect our residents."
