Thunder and Lightning Cut AYSO Morning Soccer Games Short

Almost immediately as the 10 a.m. games started, so did the rain.

Around 9:45 a.m., dozens of soccer players with American Youth Soccer Organization Region 210 had just finished warming up on Sept. 18, when the temps started cooling down, and the rain started falling. Almost as quickly as they had been running on the field, they were running from it—towards their parents' cars in the parking lot. Fortunately, the thunder and lightning subsided, and the 11 a.m. games went on as scheduled.

Players from the communities of Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Westmont and Willowbrook are all part of Region 210. The AYSO aims to encourage good sportsmanship and offer quality soccer programs to young people. The organization's philosophy is that every player gets to play, regardless of skill level.
