Serendipity Yoga and Wellness

Meditate, breathe, and read your way to radical resilience. This 90-minute gathering blends gentle asana, deep breathwork, meditation, and reflective dialogue inspired by Practicing Peace in Times of War by Pema Chödrön.
Together, we’ll explore how the teachings in this powerful text invite us to meet conflict—both inner and outer—with compassion, mindfulness, and courage. Through grounding practices and open-hearted conversation, we’ll reflect on what it means to embody peace in challenging times and to live these teachings in our daily lives.
This is more than a book discussion; it’s a shared practice of awakening and self-study within our Serendipity CommUNITY.
You are invited to come dressed comfortably, bring your yoga mat, and wear anything that helps you feel comfortable when seated. Plan to bring a sweater or a wrap to keep yourself warm. Chairs will be available for those who prefer.
Please come having read the book in its entirety. Your investment includes a copy of Practicing Peace in Times of War. Books will be purchased through Bookies in Chicago. You may pick up your copy in the studio after you have registered for this event. Reflection questions will be made available the week of the event.
Please note that no refunds will be provided. If you need to cancel, your credit may be applied toward a future event at the studio. However, if you do not cancel and do not attend, your credit will be forfeited.

Cultural heritage sites in Illinois include hundreds of thousands of campsites, villages, and cities created by Indigenous peoples, as well as the remains of houses, farms, and towns built after the arrival of Europeans. These sites are irreplaceable, tangible links to the past that help tell the story of Illinois and its peoples. Most of these sites are vulnerable to the impacts of changing weather patterns, which will intensify three main threats: erosion, flooding, and development.&nbsp; In addition, most of the sites threatened by climate change have not even been identified or recorded.&nbsp; Dr. Andrew White (University of Illinois) will discuss how important it is to safeguard this legacy, and how we must work now to document sites before they are lost, protect those that can be preserved, and share the lessons they hold.


This event is free and open to the public. Please join us for light refreshments before the program.
