
He was born April 2, 1922 in Missouri Valley, Iowa, the son of John and Elizabeth (Fodor) Bachi. He moved with his family at an early age to Louisiana where they operated a strawberry farm. His family eventually relocated to the Chicago area and following high school he enlisted in the United States Air Corps, serving from 1942 - 1946. On April 15, 1978 he was united in marriage to Lorraine E. Kramer. The couple made their home in the Chicago area where Jim worked as a tuck pointer, retiring in 1987. The couple moved to Huntley in 2006. Jim had a passion for dogs and has had one all of his life. He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, was a member of the Norridge Church of Christ and loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.
He is also survived by his Godson, Ronald Slawek Jr., many nieces and nephews and his best friends, Ronald & Juanita Slawek.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis, John, Steven and his sisters, Rose & Betty Jane.
