
James was born March 13, 1943 the son of Edward and Catherine (Murphy) Carlin. He graduated from Marist High School and later from St. Peters College in Jersey City. He served in the United States Marines. He married Carol Barakso on February 19, 1965. He was originally from New Jersey, lived in Chicago area for 30 + years. He travelled and worked in Latin America, Europe and much of the U.S.
Jim’s first job was in manufacturing systems and during his career rose to the ranks of senior IT management positions, eventually to executive positions including Director of IT at Baxter Health Care and CIO of Baxter Renal Division and most recently CIO of Gerber. In recent years, Jim was active and interested in politics at all levels. He often volunteered for local political activities and enjoyed writing about the issues he felt were most important to our country.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his closest cousins, Diane (Jeff) Carlin-Bartel and Peggy (Bob) Parsons. He also leaves behind many cherished animals.
He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
