Thomas was born May 5, 1929 in Chicago, the son of Al and Veronica (Duffy) Barkley. He was raised and educated in Chicago and on September 23, 1950 was united in marriage to Jo Notaro who he had known since the fifth grade and started dating in high school. The couple made their home in Oak Park, Il., Middletown, Ohio, Northbrook, Il., Naples, Fla. and most recently Lake in The Hills, Il.
Tom had worked as a sales and marketing executive for 20 years at GE and then became self-employed in that field. He especially enjoyed time with his family, golf and travel.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Jo, his dear children; Donna (Lou) Agoston of Northville, Michigan, Thomas (Deedee) Barkley of Lake Forest, Illinois, Nancy (Gary) Halls of Rochester Hills, Michigan & Mary Jo (Thomas) Pausteck of Barrington Hills, Illinois, 11 grandchildren; Lauren, Leigha, Caitlin, Stephanie, Melissa, Allison, Jennifer, Julie, Joanna, Jessica & Scott, also 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille and his brother, Paul.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
