Valerie was born February 14, 1944 in Birmingham, England, the daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Pearson) Parkes. She was united in marriage to John S. Cliffe on December 16, 1969. The couple made their home in England and Valerie worked at a factory for many years until the birth of her daughter in 1976. She then worked as a seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her family and friends. The couple moved to the United States in 1988 and in 1990 moved to West Dundee. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, reading and cooking.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 followed by a 12 noon, Service of Remembrance on Friday, August 24 at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
