Huntley Musings: Happy S’Mores Day
It's National S'Mores Day. Here are some easy recipes to try on this special day.

The most emails in my box was something like 800, but I’ve made an effort over the last year to keep that number under 100 emails.
I just get a ton of emails. I don’t mind it really. I always loved AOL's little “You’ve Got Mail” icon _ which is also the title of one of my favorite movies _ because it made me feel special. I didn’t, however, like the sound that came with the emails from one of my first editors. That little chiming bell gave me the jitters for months on end.

What makes my day is getting emails with little gems like this one: "Honor National S'mores Day on August 10 with Taste of Home Recipe." The email is from Taste of Home magazine.
How can anyone overlook a title with the word s’mores in it? The mere mention of this word conjures up the velvety taste of marshmallow joining together with chocolate and the crunchy blend of graham cracker.

I admit, there are some kinda wacky or curious monthly, weekly and daily observances. This month, by the way, is Celery, Fennel and Cactus Month. This week is National Resurrect Romance Week. And Aug. 18 is Birth Control Pills Day.
I’m wondering if National Resurrect Romance Week should coincide with Birth Control Pills Day, but who knows if anyone regulates or coordinates these months, weeks or days.
I digress. National S'Mores Day is neither wacky nor curious. It's just a good idea.
