Man Arrested for Battery: Altercation at McHenry County Courthouse

Daniel R. Stott, 20, of Harvard, was arrested after a fight broke out at the McHenry County Courthouse in Woodstock.

A Harvard man was arrested Tuesday following a verbal and physical fight at the McHenry County Courthouse.

Daniel R. Stott, 20, of the 10000 block of White Oaks Rd., Harvard, was arrested Oct. 8, and charged with aggravated battery, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office news release.

An altercation occurred at about 9:20 a.m., according to the Sheriff's Office, when Stott approached another man on the third floor of the courthouse, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.

Stott and another family member allegedly approached the victim and an argument between the three men ensued.

"It then escalated, and Stott started striking the victim in the face as he sat in the chair," the Sheriff's news release states.

Sheriff’s Court Security Officers responded to the third floor hallway of the Courthouse and separated the involved individuals, after which Stott was taken into custody and arrested.

The charges were elevated to "aggravated" because the incident occurred within a public place of accommodation - the courthouse.

Stott was turned over to the custody of the McHenry County Correctional Facility. His bond was set at $20,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15.
