The COVID-19 Call Center was launched in February 2021 and served McHenry County residents in a variety of ways, including scheduling COVID-19 vaccination and testing appointments for those with accessibility barriers, providing answers to general questions about the virus in McHenry County and connecting residents with other much-needed resources.
“The COVID-19 Call Center proved to be a valuable resource in assisting those who were seeking COVID-19 vaccinations but encountered barriers that prevented them from scheduling themselves,” said MCDH Public Health Administration Melissa Adamson. “Over time, as the needs of residents shifted, our call center representatives were a voice that our community could turn to when seeking reliable information and a connection to resources that were specific to McHenry County.”

After the call center’s closure, general questions about COVID-19 or information about testing locations can be answered by calling 1-800-229-3931 or by visiting dph.illinois.gov. Those responding to calls about contact tracing from the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Surge Center should call (312) 777-1999. Anyone responding to a call from MCDH about contact tracing should call (815) 334-4500.
MCDH continues to provide COVID-19 vaccinations at its Crystal Lake and Woodstock locations. Anyone who wishes to receive their vaccine at an MCDH clinic can schedule online at Vaccines.gov or by calling (815) 334-4500 if assistance is needed.
“We appreciate all the hard work call center representatives put forward throughout the last year to help and support the McHenry County community,” Adamson said.
