Pioneer Center to Provide Adult Substance Abuse Counseling

McHenry County residents were faced with limited options by the recent closure of Family Services. It was one of only two organization licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse (DASA) to provide adult substance abuse counseling.

But Pioneer Center for Human Services will be stepping up toe fill the void left by Family Services.

This past month, Pioneer Center for Human Services expanded their service-base by receiving a license from DASA to add adult outpatient substance abuse counseling to their already licensed youth services.  Experienced, addictions-certified staff is already on board to begin providing this much needed service.

“Nearly 85% of our clients currently partaking in behavioral health services have the need for substance abuse counseling.  This new licensure allows us to provide a full spectrum of care for them.  The therapies will be able to work seamlessly together, taking care of the whole person,” said Susan Krause, Director of Organizational Advancement for Pioneer Center.

Every year, Pioneer Center provides services to more than 2,700 children, adolescents and adults. Services include psychiatric care, outpatient counseling, substance abuse counseling, delinquent youth, case management, housing and developmental disability services.
