Wind Advisory, Warm, Threat of Severe Weather for Sunday

Warm, windy and wild weather in the forecast for Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013.

Hang on to your hat - and your umbrella - as it's going to be blustery NovemberΒ day with the chance for severe weather by afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a wind advisory from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, according to Accuweather.com.

A wind advisory means sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are likely, and gusts between 45 to 57 mph are possible by afternoon, Accuweather reports.Β Winds initially will come in from the southwest and then become westerly by early Sunday evening as a strong cold front pushes into the area.Β

There isΒ a chance for rain Sunday, and temps are expected toΒ climb to an unseasonably warm 65 degrees. However, things could get nasty by afternoon.

The combination of a strong jet stream, low pressure system and moisture coming in from the Gulf of Mexico could set the stage for a severe thunderstorm outbreak including the threat for tornadoes in some areas, according to the WeatherChannel.com.

The cities in the threat area include Chicago, Detroit, Nashville, Cincinnati, Louisville, Cleveland, and Indianapolis.
