Chicago Police Department Warns Community About Burglaries

CPD issued a warning today about burglary related incidents.

The Chicago Police Department issued a warning today about burglary related incidents that occurred in Hyde Park during the month of September. In these incidents, offender(s) entered into apartments and took property from therein.

The times and locations of the incidents are as follows:

  • 5300 Block of South Drexel Avenue, Sept. 17, at approx. 4 a.m.
  • 5400 Block of South Drexel Avenue, Sept. 19, between the hours of 11:15 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • 900 Block of East 54th Street between the hours of 9 a.m. on Sept. 21and 7 a.m. on Sept. 22
  • 5400 Block of South University Avenue, Sept. 28, between the hours of 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • 5300 Block of South Ellis Avenue, Sept. 28, between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • Keep doors and windows secured
  • Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks
  • If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives.
  • If you are a victim do not ouch anything, call police immediately
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
