1. That un-annoucned to-the-public Saturday-afternoon meeting and not-until-yesterday did UChicago News publish its story: UofC President A met with Mayor Lightfoot; Superintendent of Police David Brown; and about 12 or so Community Leaders (including Clergy) to talk about What Can be Best Done Now, to (medium and long-term) improve the quality of education, social services, recreation, city involmement, UChicago involvement ... so that younger residents of the neighboring south side communities will have fewer and fewer people who wind up committing crimes in Chicago.

2. Citizens are taking things into their own hands: Leader Bernie Currie is trying to organize Block Clubs throughout Hyde Park, that can inspire community connectedness and help neigbors organize groups and such that will create a greater-sense-of community and therefore help lead to fewer crimes here in Hyde Park.
3. Our great residents are organizing a Chrismas Carol afternoon for a week from Saturday, on December 4th

4. I -- and others -- have written that our bail system is funcioning at near zero percent efficiency and is in a crisis state. Leaders and everyone must help return our bail system -- nationally -- to one that is professional and makes sense. I have proposed a 28th Amendment to the US Constitution, mainly to point out the crisis in bail-amounts that have helped create the huge crime increase ove the past few years
5. The leaders of Chicago and Hyde Park have their own crisis: They for whatever reason do NOT know how to interact with residents. This is unimaginally incompetent. My opinion-column will follow.
Within an hour I will have the most-relevant link to each of Sid's Top Five News Stories-Columns for today ... Tuesday November 23rd, 2021
